Q: Where can I file documents?

All pleadings must be filed with the Supreme Court Clerk’s Office in Santa Fe. Attorneys are required to file pleadings electronically. Self-represented litigants may file their pleadings in person or by mail.

Q: How can I get copies of documents in the Court’s file?

Copies of public record documents are available for a copying fee of $0.15 per page. When requesting copies, have the case name and/or docket number to expedite your request.

Q: What is the docket fee?

The docket fee is set by State statute and is currently $125.00.

How do I ask questions of the Court?

Generally, all communication with the Court should be made through the Clerk’s Office. You may inquire about the status of a pending case or the appellate procedure. Members of the bar and the public should not contact the Justices, their law clerks, or staff counsel directly regarding any matters related to cases pending before the Court.

Where is the Court located and what are the hours of operation?

The New Mexico Supreme Court is located at 237 Don Gaspar Avenue in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Court’s hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., closed during the noon hour, Monday through Friday. The Court is closed on federally recognized holidays, except that the President’s Day Holiday is taken the Friday after Thanksgiving each year.
